- Summary
- Topcoder, a Wipro company, was evolving from a highly managed technology services business toward a more accessible, self-service model. I worked closely with the C-suite to reshape the brand, marketing, website, and product experience, while leading and expanding the creative team. I also partnered with Wipro’s AI R&D team to design a secure AI experience for working with large volumes of private data.
Topcoder had built its reputation around something pretty radical: giving companies access to a global community of technologists to solve complex problems.
But the market was changing, and Topcoder needed to change with it.
I was brought in to help rethink the direction of the company, working closely with the executive team across brand, marketing, product, and customer experience. The challenge wasn't simply to make Topcoder look different. We needed to make a complex technology business easier to understand, easier to engage with, and better positioned for where the market was going.
A new story for Topcoder.
My team and I rebuilt the brand around a clearer story about what Topcoder could do for modern technology organizations.
That meant rethinking the voice, visual identity, messaging, marketing experience, and website together rather than treating them as separate projects.
We redesigned the website to support Topcoder's role as a technology thought leader while creating clearer paths into its services, expertise, community, and emerging product offerings.
I managed and expanded the creative team through the transition, bringing in new talent and working across marketing, product, engineering, and leadership to turn the new direction into something the community wanted and customers could easily use.
From service to self-service.
One of the biggest shifts was in the business itself.
Topcoder had traditionally operated as a highly managed service. We began exploring how more of that experience could become self-service, giving customers a more direct way to access Topcoder's capabilities.
That required us to think beyond a marketing site and into the product experience: how customers discovered what Topcoder could do, understood the offering, and moved from interest to actually getting work done in the platform.
I worked to bring the brand, marketing, UX, and product design into one continuous customer journey.
A fun side project: AI product design.
Alongside the broader transformation, I worked with Wipro's AI research and development team on a secure AI product designed to work with large volumes of private data.
The idea was remarkably close to experiences that have since become familiar: a conversational interface that allowed people to interact with and find answers within large collections of secure documents and information.
This was very early in the generative AI era, which made the work especially interesting. We weren't applying an established design pattern. We were figuring out what interacting with AI should feel like while also designing around trust, security, and complex enterprise information.
The work was bigger than a rebrand.
Topcoder was changing its business, its product model, and the way it presented itself to the world at the same time.
My role was to connect the dots.
I led the creative direction and team, partnered closely with the C-suite, helped reshape the brand and marketing experience, contributed to the new self-service product direction, and worked with Wipro's AI R&D team on what was then a very new kind of product.
